MHA Breakthrough, Feb. 22 and 23 at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, is a new event which will inspire and mobilize leadership teams to co-create a better way to deliver care, engage people and drive results. Breakthrough embraces innovative formats, welcomes a broad spectrum of leaders from the C- suite to the board table, and delivers unprecedented insight and knowledge.
Gary Kaplan, MD, FACP, chairman and CEO of Virginia Mason Medical Center, is co-author of Leading a Culture of Safety: A Blueprint for Success published by the American College of Healthcare Executives and National Patient Safety Foundation Lucian Leape Institute. Kaplan will lead two sessions, one focused on building accountability for safety as part of the leadership strategy and one outlining how to reduce variability and inconsistent performance in quality, safety and patient satisfaction.
Other topics include population health and strategies to align with anchor institutions that can make the most overall impact; frontline crisis management tactics for behavioral health and affiliating with providers along the continuum of care to manage patients; and tackling caregiver burnout by recognizing the signs, promoting the importance of resilience and developing tools to combat frustration, build trust and connection emotionally.
MHA is authorized to award six hours of pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit (non-ACHE) for the program toward advancement, or recertification in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
