Community Service Event – Gleaner’s Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan
Organized by the Emerging Leaders Community Engagement Team
Saturday, October 28, 2017
Gleaners Detroit Distribution Center
2131 Beaufait Street
Detroit, MI 48207
9 am – 11:30 am
Gleaners distribution centers process a tremendous volume of donated and purchased food to serve neighbors in need. Volunteer tasks include sorting and packing food, picking cases for shipments, preparing supplies for food drives and more.
Gleaner’s food goes out to more than 500 partner agencies, including pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and schools that serve our hungry neighbors. This position requires that you are able to stand for several hours, though accommodations may be made with advance notice. Volunteers under age 10 are not permitted at the distribution center.
A follow-up e-mail will be sent with additional details as the date gets closer.
